IEWC Cancer Luncheon Was A Success

The Second Pink Is Beautiful Fundraiser Luncheon held at Island Way Grill on October 20th was very successful, raising over $1,100 which will benefit the Mammography Voucher Program in Pinellas County. Sherri Fry, guest speaker, said the program was started by Dr. Barbara Bourland, a local radiologist and founder of the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. The program provides free services such as screening mammograms and cancer treatment to uninsured women with limited financial resources. MVP is funded by the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the AVON Foundation, and private donations.

Dee Bucklew and Bev Kennedy, chairpersons, worked countless hours to make this happen. They want to thank everyone that contributed so much to make the afternoon fun and successful - to all the members that helped from registration and selling balloons. Several members donated baskets and several businesses donated gift certificates. Congratulations to the winners of the prizes and to the successful bidders on the silent auction items. They all deserve a great big thank you. It takes everyone working together to accomplish something as wonderful like this fundraiser.

Save the Date! November 17th, Clearwater Yacht Club (Food Pantry Raid). Local pharmacist, Pamela Seefeld R. Ph, presents Anti-Aging, will be the guest speaker.

Membership is open to all women residents of Island Estates. Membership fee is $15 per year and monthly meetings are held from September to May. Make checks payable to IEWC and send to Joan Landreth, 2998 Fieldbook Pl., Clearwater, FL 33761.
