Largo Citizens 1 - Power Elite 0

Notwithstanding having to search the Big newspaper for the Largo election result, the resultant story when found was so obviously SP Times biased (a) they strongly recommended his opponent and (b) the TBN 11/05/09 post-election story was about the loser (with a picture) while not featuring the new Commissioner other than a negative comment, and, the reporter seriously failed to detail the facts of this election and the "explicit reality" of the win by Commissioner Curtis Holmes. The Times headline (11/04/09) infers that Holmes "edges" past his opponent for the win. That is totally incorrect because the final vote tally does not tell the actual story. Permit me to inform the Times and public of the facts.

What Commissioner Holmes did was beat the Largo Chamber of Commerce, the Largo Fire Department union, the Largo Communications Workers union, the Mayor and four other sitting commissioners (who were at his UN-victory celebration election night) and including an assortment of other city boards and committees who by mindset and cloning are umbilically connected to the power elite of Largo and lend their influence.

Taking all that on is a huge undertaking in Largo and if successful , it is indicative of a strong campaign and meaningful win against all that, as Commissioner Holmes indeed was.

As a citizen of Largo who has known Commissioner Holmes for a number of years and who understands his good works, intelligence and philosophy, I can only hope that these traits are accepted by his fellow members of the commission as well as the administrative heads of Largo government with open and "creative out of the box" considerations and in so doing it will, in my common sense opinion, assist them in serving us better while giving significant benefit to the physical city and its taxpaying constituents.

Congratulations Commissioner Holmes. Looking forward to your capable representation.

Ernest Wm. Bach (former Largo Commissioner)
