Belleair Settles Confusing Question On Official Town LogoBy Leo CoughlinBELLEAIR - If there was confusion among those who communicate with the town as to what is Belleair's logo, that was settled at the commission meeting Tuesday night. Belleair had a long-standing town "signature" that became familiar to one and all and then, about six years ago, a new logo emerged. Tuesday night, commissioners decided to end that and opted for the newer version. In other action, the commission worked on the town and county consistency in regulations and ordinances that pertain to both for the sake of conformity. Most of this exercise consisted of making language uniform. The commission decided to utilize three engineering firms as consultants as needs arose because Belleair does not have a town engineer. "Three outfits can give us multiple options on situations," Micah Maxwell, town manager, said. Authorization was given for the payment of taxes on two private properties that have come into the town's possession. One involves a life estate in the present occupant of the property and the other concerns land that was given to the town for a park. Discussion continued on traffic issues in the town with commissioners getting a presentation on how remedies for particular problems are approached. Speed limits and "cutting through" on some residential streets have been the main concerns of residents. |
