Recs and Reads

By Anne McKay Garris

As the members of the Clearwater Beach Association enjoyed their annual Christmas Party in a portion of the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, last week, I marveled at how truly delightful a place it is to have a party. The spacious food preparation area is so neat and clean and well equipped. The tables can be placed any way you want and the CBA entertainment committee, as usual, provided charming decorations and plenty of good food.

Although the room is large enough for a very big party, the partitions can make it cozy for a smaller group. And there's always the wonderful view. If you, or friends, are looking for a truly nice place to have a party, wedding reception, birthday party, any kind of celebration, you will want to check out the recreation center.

We're excited about some new plans for activities at the Library and the Recreation Center, after the holidays.

Individual computer instruction is expected to be in place by February and we have hopes of a program of shell craft, for home folks, and also for visitors who might like to collect the shells they have found along the beach into an attractive souvenir to take home with them. Shell decorated picture frames are popular, or small boxes with shell decorations on them. What do you think. Give us a yell at recsandreads@earthlink.net to let us know if you are interested, or what kind of shell craft you might like to do.

And, don't forget, our beautiful exercise room is a great place to do away with any extra pounds you pick up during the holidays. Come check it out.
