World's Top Rated Golf Program, Chi Chi Academy, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County Make Impact on "At-Risk" YouthLARGO - Chi Chi Academy and Big Brothers Big Sisters have partnered together to positively engage "at-risk" youth in Pinellas County. Chi Chi Academy is the only golf course in the world that serves as a living classroom and whose proceeds benefit needy children. The Academy has been called the best program in the U.S. by Golf Magazine and has won numerous humanitarian awards over the past 30 years. Chi Chi Academy is a Drop Out Prevention Partnership School that includes both traditional classroom learning experiences while integrated into a public golf course. Students, grades 4-8, receive individual attention in the classroom and are taught valuable life skills through the game of golf. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County also serves "at-risk" youth in the community by matching them with caring adult mentors. The agency receives privileged access to both the school and golf facilities. "Bigs" and their "Littles" enrolled in the program are able to enjoy the facilities at the Academy. Matches participate in a variety of sports and activities, including golf. Chi Chi Academy would like to see programs like it expand to new communities.
