
Get the New Year off to a Great Start With Your DogDog owners can get the new year off to the right start by attending a Learn the Basics of Dog Training Seminar at Pinellas County Animal Services. The free seminar will cover house training, loose-leash walking and dealing with other challenging behaviors such as chewing and jumping. A certified member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers will conduct this free, fun and informative seminar. Registration is free and open to anyone who has adopted a dog from Pinellas County Animal Services or any other animal shelter in the county. Since the information will be a surprise for the dogs back at home, Animal Services asks that only the two-legged family members attend. No dogs allowed at the class, please. The next class will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, at Pinellas County Animal Services, 12450 Ulmerton Road, Largo. Register by filling out the On-line Registration or calling (727) 582-2600. The Pinellas County Animal Services shelter and adoption center is located at 12450 Ulmerton Road, Largo. The public is invited to view the animals up for adoption during shelter hours - no appointment is necessary. The adoptions section closes a half hour before closing. The hours of Pinellas County Animal Services are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The adoption areas will close 30 minutes prior to the shelter closing. The shelter will not be open to the public on Thursdays, Sundays or holidays. The outside animal drop-off will be open on those days that the shelter is closed to the public.
