Local Charity Launches Handicap Pet Project, Bosco's List

For Paws Hospice, a local non-profit 501(c)(3), has launched a countywide database of new and used prosthetic devices to be made available for families with disabled pets.

A recent call for help from a Hudson family that needed a set of wheels for their 20-year-old disabled dachshund Bosco drew such an overwhelming response that the dog received a donated set of used wheels in just three days.

Knowing that there must be many more unused handicap aides lying in peoples' closets Hospice President Nancy Weikle began contacting local veterinarians and rescue groups to assist in compiling a list of available devices in the community.

If you have a used cart, brace, artificial limb or other prosthesis that might help a disabled pet, and wish to add it to Bosco's List, please contact For Paws Hospice at (727) 639-9285 or (727) 784-7773, or email at ForPawsHospice@hotmail.com.
