Letter To Mayor and Commission About Lake Palms Outreach ProgramHi. I'm Stephanie Ramsay. I go to Lake Palms Program. I have attended this program for 7 years. I started when I was 8. This rec center has been important to kids, teenagers, and adults. It has presence in the community and keeps kids away from trouble. This program has helped us be successful with our education, providing after school tutoring, homework time, and staffs to help study. A program like this that stresses importance, telling us whats right and what's wrong, and keeping this neighborhood safe is important to this community. Closing down this program isn't helping parents, kids, the community or neighborhood. This neighborhood has a high percentage of violence and this program has lowered that percentage because when kids go there it keeps them out of trouble and violence. Before closing this program think about the kids and their futures and how it will affect them not having this program. Failure isn't an option, we want as many kids and teens to be successful because they are the future, and that's what this program has taught us. This program isn't doing anything wrong but inspiring young adults, and that's what we need in this neighborhood. Mrs. Joann and Mr. Andre are big part of this rec center. They will do what it takes for us to be successful. The decisions you make and the action we do, no matter what, they're always behind you when you need them. They bring joy to our hearts and always know how to put a smile on your face. Adults like them are what kids and teens need for inspiration. Losing them is like loosing a father or a mother. Losing this program is like losing a police station in the community. I might be one person, and this might be one email, but that's what it takes to reconsider closing the outreach program. If we lose this rec, we lose the staffs, and then we will loose this neighborhood. I'm having hope this program is going to stay open, and I'm going to fight and do whatever it takes for it to be. We need this rec.
