
The Clearwater Civitan Club Awarded Chief Sid Klein An Honorary Club Membership
Chief Sid Klein being awarded an Honorary Club Membership for the Clearwater Civitan Club. On January 27th, Clearwater Civitan President Richard Fuller, and Secretary Fred Novo-Mesky, visited Chief Klein in his office. President Fuller presented Chief Klein with a letter from the Clearwater Civitan Club, congratulating him for his exemplary leadership of the Clearwater Police Department, since his appointment in 1981. His success in bringing the community and Police Department together in solving problems, including those not of a criminal nature, were also applauded. The Chief's efforts to solve the homeless problem by launching the Clearwater Homeless Intervention Project are well known. The letter also wished the Chief well in his retirement. Secretary Novo-Mesky then read the citation, "This certifies that Sid Klein is an Honorary Member of the Clearwater Civitan Club. In recognition of his long history of exemplary leadership as the Chief of the Clearwater Police Department and the positive impact of his tireless efforts to make our community a better place to live". Chief Klein responded with thanks, saying this is the first time anyone has done something like this for him. He appreciated this Clearwater Civitan Club honor.
