Photos/text by SANDI FAHY

Members of area 4-H clubs gathered at the Pinellas County Extension Service for 4-H Demonstration Day on March 13. Pictured above are Tanner Dickson, left, and Kyle Walker of the Average Joes 4-H Club in Clearwater, who teamed up for a presentation in the mechanical and engineering science category. "Apollo: Rendering America Moonstruck" won the pair a blue ribbon, which qualifies them for participation in the 4-H district competition in May. Tanner and Kyle both attend Clearwater Fundamental Middle School, where they are in the 8th grade.

Celine Frings, 12, is shown with her display highlighting "Types of Appaloosa Patterns" at the recent 4-H Demonstration Day at the Pinellas County Extension Service. Celine is a member of Pony Pals 4-H Club. She was awarded a red ribbon for her illustrated talk in the Horse division. Over 50 youngsters competed for ribbons in various categories, including Health & Safety, Animal Industry, Natural Resources, Plant Connections, Civic & Leadership Development, Clothing & Textiles, Leisure & Performing Arts and Food Preparation.
