Guthrie Family Rides Into ClearwaterPhotos/Text By Carl Wagenfohr
Arlo Guthrie, above, was joined by his four children and seven grandchildren for a sold-out concert at the downtown Capitol Theater last Saturday. The two-hour performance included Arlo's hits, original tunes from Arlo's children and grandchildren, and some recently-discovered lyrics of his father Woody, whose music lives on through the voices of three generations of his descendants.
Fourteen members of the Guthrie clan entertained the appreciative audience, the largest number of performers ever to have taken the Capitol Theater stage at one time. "Getting all these people off and on the stage is like herding a bunch of cats," Guthrie explained as he introduced the encore, "We'll do two more songs, then it's over."
