McMullen Tennis Complex Hosts Jr. Spring Tourney

CLEARWATER - The skies were clear and the sun was shining for the first day of the USTA Clearwater Jr. Spring Local Classic at the Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex on March 27. For the finals the following day, the sun was absent and the rains came; however, the young players taking part in the competition managed to complete their matches.

Christopher Riley took first place in the boys 10 and under division. Peter Lipsky was winner in the boys 12 and under age group and Evan Holvoet finished first among boys 14 and under. Christopher Pollan emerged as the champion of the boys 16 and under division. The 18 and under boys champ was Jimmi Parsons

In girls ages 10 and under play, the winner was Gracyn Williams. Chrysoula Kapelonis took first place honors among girls 12 and under and Sarah Yaffe placed first in the 14 and under age group. The 16 and under girls champion was Anne-Marie Mooney. Alexandra Kitchen took home the girls championship in the 18 and under division.

Many of the youngsters who competed in the tourney train at the Chall Academy at the McMullen Tennis Complex. They include Anne-Marie Mooney, the 16 and under girls champion; Dunja Kisin, second place winner among girls 14 and under; Alexa Albinson, who finished third in the girls 10 and under age group; Andrea Zaniboni, 3rd place, boys 10 and under; Matteo Zaniboni, 3rd place, boys 12 and under; Jorge Ramirez, 4th place, boys 14 and under; and Parker Hayslett, third place, boys 16 and under.
