Clearwater Mayor Proclaims April 2010 as Civitan Appreciation Month

Mayor Frank Hibbard presents Clearwater Civitan Club President, Richard Fuller, with the Proclamation.

On Wednesday, March 31st, Mayor Frank Hibbard presented Clearwater Civitan Club President, Richard Fuller, with a proclamation. It acknowledged Civitan International and the Clearwater Civitan Club's mission of service to community and individual needs, with special emphasis on helping people with developmental diseases. President Fuller led a ten-member declaration from the Clearwater Civitan Club to this event.

The Clearwater Civitan Club's 59 years of service to their community and neighboring communities, and service to youth through the development of Junior Civitan Clubs, was recognized when he introduced North Pinellas Junior Civitan, Cathy Rocco, as the Florida District Junior Civitan of the year. He also introduced Florida District Governor, and past President of the Clearwater Civitan Club, Frank Kelly. After a brief summary of various Civitan projects, President Fuller thanked the City Council for the Proclamation. He then invited them to attend the Civitans annual presentation of the Excellent Performance of Police Duty and Service to the Community award to a member of the Clearwater Police Department. The presentation will be held Tuesday, May 25, at 8:00 a.m., in the Police Chief's conference room at the Clearwater Police Department.

The Clearwater Civitan Club's ties and service to the community were further highlighted when long time Civitan Barbara Green, the President and C.E.O. of the Homeless Emergency Project, stepped up to the podium and thanked the City for their assistance in the building of the new Administration Building at the Homeless Emergency Project Complex off N. Betty Lane.
