American Legion Hosts 10th Annual Sock Hop

Boop-Oop-A-Doop means come on let's dance! Are you smitten with music and dance of "days of yore?" Well, now is your chance to let your hair down as the FL 50's Original Rockers dance group is announcing their 10th Annual Sock-Hop. This event will be held at the American Legion Post #7 (1760 Turner St., Clearwater) on Saturday, April 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The music requests will be played and spun by DJ's, "Stormin' Norman" and "Bobbie Soxs." All of our "reincarnated" teenagers of the Original Rockers will participate in line dances of old and join in teaching all the dances such as the stroll, hully gully, slow dance, and various new line dances, which will keep the dance floor going!

Contests and door prizes will be happening and the tables will have snacks all evening.

The American Legion restaurant serves delicious sandwiches from the menu, and the open bar will be for beverages, both at nominal costs.

The Original Rockers club enjoys the many community functions in Clearwater, Largo, St. Petersburg, Dunedin, and the whole Tampa Bay Area. A portion of the sock-hop ticket sales will go to a local charity. Tickets are $7.00 per person, in advance or at the door (children under 12 free).

For tickets or information, call (727) 786-6828 or (813) 837-3335.
