Food Bank Needs Volunteers for Food DriveThe RCS Food Bank needs volunteers for the Letter Carriers' Food Drive on May 8th. With more than one hundred tons of food expected to come in during a six-hour time span, the RCS Food Bank located at 700 Druid Road in Clearwater is in urgent need of volunteers to sort food. Truckloads of canned and boxed supplies will be delivered by area Letter Carriers throughout the afternoon. Volunteers will then sort the items so they can be distributed to individuals and families in our community. Individuals or groups may sign up for the following afternoon shifts by calling Rachel Thurber, Volunteer Coordinator, at (727) 584-3528 ext. 407. The shift times are 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., and 5:00 - 7:30 p.m. While we welcome children to be a part of this great experience, please remember that industrial equipment will be used throughout the day at the RCS Food Bank. Volunteers are also needed at local US Post Offices to help load and unload trucks. Transportation will be provided to and from each post office. For safety reasons, no children under the age of 18 will be permitted at the US Post Offices.
