
Fine Arts Society Installs New Officers

At the Carlouel Yacht Club on Thursday, May 13, the Fine Arts Society installed their officers for the upcoming year, presented all new members with the traditional rose, and presented the Dunedin Fine Art Center with a check for $5,000, profits of this year's fundraising. Installed were President, Gloria Hollingsworth; 1st Vice President, Peggy Powell; 2nd Vice President, June Hosner; Recording Secretary, Pat Brant; Corresponding Secretary, Sherrie Morton-Tetrick; Treasurer, Lynn Lees; and Assistant Treasurer, Joyce Muller. New members included Jean Rascher, Odey O'Donnell, Gaye Haygood, Candace Gardner, Charlie Muller, David Moore, Marie Bard, Barbara Chapman, Alice Tucker, and Kelly Schmidt. Four others were unable to attend. Before the check presentation, George Ann Bisset, Executive Director of the Dunedin Fine Art Center spoke of the upcoming renovation being made to the center this fall. Outgoing President Lois O'Donnell made the check presentation to Ms. Bisset and Ken Hannon, Assistant Executive Director. The money will be used as a sponsorship for a future exhibit at the Art Center. An announcement was made of the Ponce de Leon Art & Music Festival, a project supported by a donation from the Fine Arts Society last year incorporating the visual, science, and language arts. Future fundraising event profits will be awarded to a different art venue each year to foster the growth of the visual arts in Pinellas County.
