Belleair Beach Names Charter Review MembersBy Leo CoughlinBELLEAIR BEACH - The City Council approved at its meeting Monday night the composition of a Charter Review Committee that includes two current members of the council. Rudy Davis, a former mayor, and Dick Crowl, who left the commission this past spring, join Margot Peguignot and current council members Kathy Mortensen and Leslie Notero on the committee. Paul Marino, the city attorney, will be on hand to advise on any legal issues. The council authorized City Manager Nancy Gonzalez to enter an agreement with a fuel provider to service residents who keep their boats at the city marina. There will be a 100-gallon minimum of delivery to boat owners. Approved was a payment of $12,210.56 to Caladesi Construction with only Mayor Lynn Rives in opposition. Rives was not satisfied with the company's completion of a work change order. Also given unanimous okay was a contract with the Sheriff's Office for police services. The contract is for $425,305 and with it, the Sheriff provides deputies to the city in three shifts daily. The full services of the Sheriff's Office is also available to the city. The council discussed the use of parking meters at Morgan Street Park but no decision was reached. The city has to provide public access in return for the beach replenishment it receives. The only such areas available are at the marina and Morgan Street Park.
