Clearwater Aging Well Center Offers Open House, Innovative Classes

CLEARWATER - Clearwater's Aging Well Center, that opened its doors June 8th at the Long Center, will hold a July 17th open house from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the center (1501 N. Belcher Rd.) Clearwater area adults of all ages are invited to attend, tour the center, and review the innovative programs designed to improve overall health and quality of life, strength, and cognitive skills in a relaxed, social environment.

The open house will feature demonstrations of its Nintendo Wii stations, and Skype programs to teleconference with loved ones. In the center's fitness area there will be a demonstration of automated equipment that measures vital statistics and tracks participants' progress over time. In addition, the open house will include a presentation on hurricane preparedness for mature adults, and refreshments will be served.

The public is also encouraged to sign up for the center's wealth of extraordinary, enjoyable classes and programs. They include: Papermaking and Bookbinding Journals; Memoir Writing; Silk Fabric Dyeing; Digital Photography; Painting; and Wood Carving/Burning. Computer and genealogy classes are offered as well as overall health and wellness programs including dance, stretching, Zumba Gold and Golden Yoga, and slow-movement Tai Chi.
