Enthusiastic Campers Departed for a Week of Fun at the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches

Forty-nine enthusiastic Pinellas County kids, (30 boys and 19 girls), loaded up a bus at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, and headed out for a fun week of camping at the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches Caruth Camp.

What makes this camp so unique is the campers are supervised by counselors who are full time Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies from different facets of the agency. Most of the deputies have already arrived at the camp and are awaiting the young camper's arrival.

Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches provides a wholesome atmosphere and positive camping experience for boys and girls of Florida, between the ages of 10 and 15. The camp also provides an opportunity for deputies and other law enforcement volunteers to work with the children and build positive, healthy relationships. Without the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches, most of the children would not be able to enjoy a camping experience.

The Caruth Camp is located in rural Levy County off Highway 19 in Inglis, Florida. Surrounded by nature away from the city, the campers will get the experience of a lifetime. The camp offers a wide range of activities, providing campers with opportunities to learn new skills and make new friends.

Some of the activities will include: Arts and Crafts, Archery, Canoeing, Swimming, a High Ropes Course, Environmental Education, and much, much more.
