Bill Young to Undergo SurgeryWASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. C. W. Bill Young (R-FL) will have surgery sometime this week to repair an acute slipped disc in his back. Young has been experiencing an increasing level of discomfort related to pressure the bulging disk has placed on nerves in his lower back. The problem has grown worse over the past two weeks and doctors conducted tests to evaluate the situation. Based on CT scan and MRI results, they recommended surgery to alleviate the pain. With Congress scheduled for an August recess period to begin at the end of this week, Young and his doctors determined that surgery now would allow time for him to recover and resume his normal schedule when Congress reconvenes.
