Attention, senior citizens 60 years of age or older who reside in Belleair, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair Shore or Largo! If you're interested in getting together with others your age, be advised there is a club just for you in this area. The Belleair Senior Social Club was founded three years ago. Today it has some 47 members who enjoy each other's company at breakfast meetings, potluck dinners, concerts, movies, day trips and more throughout the year. Each Tuesday, members gather at 9 a.m. for breakfast at Panera Bread, which is located at 2928 West Bay Drive in Belleair Bluffs. They also meet at a different restaurant each Sunday evening for dinner. They have visited the Tampa Aquarium and travelled to Ellenton to shop at the outlet mall there. The Town of Belleair has provided a bus and driver for the club's longer trips. Most of the members come from Belleair, Belleair Bluffs and Belleair Shore, but residents of Largo are welcome to join. There are no dues and no officers. You're invited to come out and learn more about the club from the members who meet in the rear section of Panera Bread on Tuesday mornings, or you may call 584-2165 for more information ... Congratulations to Renee and Bob Burrell, who are celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary today, September 2 ... Welcome back, Marilyn Di Girol, who recently travelled to upstate New York to visit relatives ... Former Island Estates resident Flo Zimmerman, who now lives in Michigan, sends greetings to all her friends in Clearwater. She's planning a visit to this area in the fall ... Just learned that Joyce Baskin, Madonna Campion, Michael Preston and Bob Bialas recently had birthdays ... A little bird also told us that Kelli Jones, Carolyn Kahrs, Sue Gray, Jan Carter, Sue Smith, Karen Ross, Kathleen Thomas and Jim Reynolds are among those turning a year older in the coming week ... Train Weekend is coming up September 4-5 at Largo Central Park. All ages are invited to board the miniature trains for a ride around the park. Rides are free but donations are gratefully accepted. Members of the Largo Historical Society will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for park visitors that day, their first fall fundraiser. The society is also holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day at the recently renovated Historic Feed Store, which is located in the park across from the Largo Public Library ... Dottie Dennis asks, "How is it that you can gain two pounds by eating half a pound of fudge?" ... Have a great week, everyone.
