A Step Ahead Amputee Action Group Schedules Mall-Walk Activity
CLEARWATER - A Step Ahead, the only program of its kind in the bay area providing emotional and physical support to amputees and those facing limb-loss, will hold its first "Amputee Action Group" activity, a mall-walk, on Wednesday, September 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Westfield Countryside Shopping Center (Countryside Mall - 27001 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater.) The group will meet on the south side of the mall at the entrance near TooJays Deli.
Amputees, those at risk of amputation, and their families and friends are invited to attend. There is no cost for this event.
The Amputee Action Group focuses on helping those affected by limb-loss return to a normal, active lifestyle. The group plans its own schedule, which could include walking, kayaking, hiking, and other action-oriented activities.
Recent amputee Brian "Fossil Man" Evensen, well-known amateur archeologist and owner of the Lost in Time store at the St. Petersburg Pier, will participate in the group, along with amputee cyclist/runner "Boston Bill" Hansbury who was featured recently on ESPN.
