Joe Calio, a Citizen of Greater CommunityThe articles and the obituary paid well-earned tribute to Joe Calio. While much of Joe's work centered on improving the quality of life on Sand Key; Joe was truly a citizen of Clearwater and Pinellas County. His work on the fire task forces, lead to the need to construct Station #51 to serve the northwest area of Clearwater. The Community Sailing Center serves the entire city and county residents, including the Chi Chi Rodriguez Foundation for struggling students, as well as those with limited mobility. Many of us aspire to make a difference through our lives. When Joe Calio saw an opportunity to improve something in our community, he just did it. Nick Fritsch
