The Way I See ItBy cj pollickBeach Re-Nourishment - While State and local funds have been allocated for re-nourishment of the beach from Sand Key to Indian Rocks, federal monies are tied up in an appropriations bill until after the November elections most probably. Belleair Beach - Budget of over 2 million dollars has not been challenged by residents of this small beach community. In fact, less than a handful of residents currently attend the commission meetings. Here Are The Top 10 Wealthiest People In Congress -
Does America Need A Change In Leadership - Across America one thing is abundantly clear: Americans are not pleased with old, established political party machines. In many states, a grass-roots citizen's organization called "The Tea Party" has supported fresh, new candidates that want leaders to adhere to conservative values and our American Constitution. The same people are unhappy with liberal activist jurists. Grass-roots Americans demand change. What kind of change? Change from the direction our nation has been headed the past years under Bush and Obama. America needs to elect people that listen to the voters. And voters have stated, by overwhelming margins, that they want Obamacare removed before it becomes another government financial "black hole." Americans do not support tax increases during a recession. Americans are tired being the world's cop. Americans want to elect people that will direct funds and laws to help create jobs. Americans want to be secure in worker social security programs. Americans want realistic healthcare reform for major illnesses and regional health pools to help smooth claim losses over large numbers. Americans want to remove activist jurists who do not support our time-tested Constitution. Americans would like term limits, such as two four-year terms, on politicians (serve the people and get back to a regular job!) Americans want border protection and enforcement of illegal immigration laws (work permits for those who wish to work in America legally.) Etc., etc. Change in leadership? Yes. Leadership in Washington has failed to listen to the will of the people. America is still in a recession, unemployment is high, jobs are lost in the private sector each month, career politicians are in the pocket of special interest groups and American workers need jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs. November elections? There will be change. American voters will speak loud and clear on Election Day. Results Are Coming In - In Los Angeles, California, $111 million of the federal stimulus money (over $800 Billion) was spent to create 55 jobs. Yes, 55 jobs added in the City of LA for $111 million of our federal "stimulus" tax dollars. Most people are shocked that it could cost $111 million to create only 55 jobs, but this is the result of big government handling job growth. One can only imagine how much of the total $800 billion of tax dollars has been wasted/abused by cities like Los Angeles. At a cost of about $2 million per new job, why not just pick some unemployed citizens and make them instant millionaires with tax dollars from working Americans? National Bureau Of Economic Research Speaks - In a surprising commentary, the National Bureau of Economic Research stated the US had emerged from one of the worst recessions since the 1930's at the end of 2009. If there is/was another recession, which many people believe we are in, it should be classified as a separate recession and not a part of the 2008-2009 recession. Of course, this economic opinion comes as a surprise to many people that believe we are still in the 2008-2010 "continuous" recession. Unemployment is about 15% in places like Nevada and other states are not far behind the 15% unemployment figure. Global Warming And Freezing - Funny thing about scientists who get paid to research global warming and/or freezing, they tend to write opinions based upon who is funding the research. However, there is at least one scientist who has rendered an opinion about global warming and freezing trends over, say, 12,000 years. "You can't look at global warming trends over short periods of time," say those climatologists. However, what is perhaps most troubling about climate opinions from these unbiased scientists is the fact that they also say we should be most worried about large Antarctic ice shelves breaking-off during warming periods and "causing the oceans to rise about 15-20 feet from current levels." Such an event could result in major losses to worldwide coastal cities that are not more than mere feet above current sea levels. Global warming and cooling? Yes, it has happened throughout time. Has mankind caused current global warming trends? No, not according to these climatologists. Is there a larger issue? Yes, current ocean warming and Antarctic ice shelves breaking-off into the ocean resulting in higher watermarks of 15-20 feet. Al Gore has made a fortune talking about global warming. Seasoned scientists, nevertheless, do not agree with Al Gore, but they do talk about issues that should cause us to take heed-such as sea levels rising and damage to coastal cities. Paris Hilton Admits To Cocaine, Gets Probation - Should Paris Hilton be treated differently than John or Mary Doe when caught in possession of cocaine? No, yet "stars" like Paris Hilton typically receive more lenient sentences than ordinary citizens when caught with cocaine or marijuana. What did Paris Hilton say when asked what she told the cop who found cocaine in her purse? "Not my purse." But, the court learned that she bought the purse just six months earlier. Paris admitted guilt and her attorney worked out a plea of one-year probation. Thus, the life of Paris Hilton continues like a "rolling stone." More importantly, will Paris Hilton avoid using drugs during the next 12 months? There Is A Person Called "Lady Gaga" - It is perhaps difficult to imagine a woman calling herself "Lady Gaga," but that is what one New York gal did to enhance her musical career as she left New York for LA. After only one year and a semester at a New York music school she said she had learned all she needed and was ready to become artistically creative. Thus, the transformation from a New York music/art student into "Lady Gaga." Of course, artistic nudity and unique hair designs were boldly added to her musical repertoire. The result? An alleged modern-day musician called Lady Gaga that resembles Madonna on a bad hair day. Lady Gaga has worn outfits of cut meat to barely cover her body as well as other creative "clothing" designs. The more insane the outfits and hair colors, the more some young people admire a woman who calls herself Lady…Gaga. The latest news had Lady Gaga speaking to a rally of people in Portland, Maine about gay rights in the military. Lady Gaga, an admitted bi-sexual, believes the current military stand of "Don't ask, don't tell" should be abolished in favor of open homosexual rights. And, as a prominent music star, Lady Gaga is using her "star" status to attract supporters on this military topic. What could be next? One day she might run for the US Senate or Mayor of San Francisco (and suggest people not visit Nevada due their stand on illegal immigration.) Just when you thought you had seen it all in Madonna, along comes someone even more outrageous. USF Bulls - The USF Bulls football team has had two weeks to revisit game films of the USF/Florida football game. They most likely loved to observe game highlights of the first quarter, then, as the game progressed to the second quarter, errors and suspect play calling should have raised a few eyebrows (and commentary.) If only the game had ended at halftime. The second half of the game was full of USF mistakes (mostly from the quarterback.) Florida proved why they were the better football team as they continue to improve under a new quarterback. The Gators will improve each week, beginning this Saturday when they play/beat Tennessee. USF needed the week off to work with their quarterback and receivers. If USF plays the same way they did when playing the Gators, they will lose at least six games this season. Not good, considering the Big East Conference is not strong this year. On the other hand, if the USF quarterback eliminates some mistakes, then USF has a good chance to have a winning season and obtain a year-end bowl bid.
