City of Largo Announces Completion of 4th Street ReconstructionLARGO - The City of Largo is pleased to announce the completion of the 4th Street SW Roadway Reconstruction Project. This $899,741 project is one of the several infrastructure projects identified in the City of Largo Sidewalk Master Plan. A major component of this project is the sidewalk and drainage improvements, as well as brick reconstruction on 4th Street SW from Cleveland Avenue to 8th Avenue SW in Downtown Largo. City staff re-evaluated the initial design developed for the project in order to provide the community with an urban corridor within the city's traditional downtown core, and to address the Commission's "live, work, shop, and play" vision for the West Bay Drive Community Redevelopment District. Staff recommended a redesign based on a holistic concept that makes room for all forms of transit: automobile, pedestrian, and bicycle. The sidewalk was redesigned to be eight-feet wide, serving as an Urban Trail providing a safe bicycle and pedestrian connection from Downtown to Largo Middle School, Central Park, the Cultural Center, library, and the Pinellas Trail. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the unveiling of the road will take place on October 12th from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. The Mayor and City Commission will be in attendance to officially recognize 4th Street SW as a true Urban Trail.
