Clearwater Audubon Announces October's Calendar of Events

It is that time of year again! The birds are returning and the Audubon field trips are back! Below is the calendar of events for October 2010!

Saturday, October 2, 8:00 a.m.
Moccasin Lake Nature Park Birdwatching Walk:
Join Clearwater Audubon Society in this wonderful Clearwater park to look for an incredible variety of songbirds, water birds, and raptors in this unique oak hammock. Autumn in Florida brings migrating birds so anything is possible! This is an easy ¾ mile trail and ideal for beginning and advanced birders alike. There are two large ponds, a stream, and a nature center which houses turtles and injured birds. Bring your binoculars and field guides if you have them! Park entry fee: 3-12 years; $2; 13 years and up; $3

Meet at Moccasin Nature Park (2750 Park Trail Lane, Clearwater.) For more information, call Madeleine Bohrer at (727) 518-6241. More information online, visit www.clearwater-fl.com/gov/depts/parksrec/facilities/mlnp.asp.

Monday, October 4, 7:30 p.m.
Clearwater Audubon Monthly Meeting at Moccasin Lake Nature Park (2750 Park Trail Lane, Clearwater):
Every first Monday of the month, Clearwater Audubon hosts a guest speaker. To open the 2010/2011 birding season, they asked Lynda White from the Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland, Florida, to visit. She will speak about the important work that this Audubon center does to rescue, rehabilitate, and release birds of prey, such as eagles and hawks. This promises to be an interesting evening, so be sure to join them! Remember that Clearwater Audubon also hosts monthly fieldtrips in and around Pinellas County. Most trips, as well as the monthly meetings, are free.

For more information, call (727) 462-6024.
