Sharing Their Hellenic Culture

The Junior Hellas Dancers from Holy Trinity Church in Clearwater learn traditional Greek dance and perform at their church and throughout the community. Their instructors, Stefanie Blatchley, Deanna Tsetsekas, and Lisa Brady were proud of the children for practicing so well to prepare for this year's festival. The group gave five performances throughout the weekend.

CLEARWATER - Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church held their annual Greek Festival last weekend. Along with sampling Greek delicacies like Gyro and Baklava, festival goers were able to tour the Byzantine church, learn to cook Greek cuisine at cooking demonstrations, and watch performances by the church's award winning Hellas Dance Groups.

The 65 Junior Hellas Dancers range in age from 1st graders to 8th graders. Dance instructor Deanna Tsetsekas said, "This dance group has been working very hard. They practice once a week for an hour to learn the 10 different dances we performed at the festival. They learn dances from all parts of Greece. The variety of costumes represents different parts of Greece. Dancing is a big part of the Greek Culture and tradition. One part that we will preserve and pass on from generation to generation. OPA!"
