Residents Are Asked to Take Online Sustainability SurveyCLEARWATER - What will the City of Clearwater be like 100 years from now? The answer to this important question depends on what policies the City of Clearwater implements today. City officials want to know what conservation and energy efficient actions residents are taking at home, as well as what the city can do to become a more sustainable community, one step at a time. Residents are invited to take the online survey by logging onto www.myclearwater.com/greenprint or by accessing it directly at www.surveymonkey.com/s/greenprint. The survey is divided into eight topics and takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. All answers will remain anonymous. The input the city receives will help shape Clearwater's future and will help guide policy changes as sustainability becomes a stronger focus in years to come. "The City of Clearwater is always looking for ways to promote a greener, more prosperous and livable community," said Michael Delk, Clearwater's Planning & Development Director. "This survey allows us to find out what residents and businesses think and want when it comes to preserving Clearwater's viability and quality of life for current and future generations." The survey is part of Clearwater Greenprint. It is a sustainability strategy project that was prompted by a state growth management law calling for energy-efficiency policies in comprehensive plans, and funded by a $350,000 U.S. Department of Energy grant. The planning effort will guide policy changes in Clearwater's Comprehensive Plan and Community Development Code and thus will provide a framework for the city decision-making and management process.
