Among the some 1,000 persons taking part in the 7th annual Tampa Bay Buddy Walk at Largo Central Park on October 9 are the above pictured members of Dakota's Dream Team, who were there to support Dakota Merritt, age 5, at the event established by the National Down Syndrome Society to promote acceptance, awareness and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Dakota is in the front row, fourth from left (in stroller). Activities included a one-mile walk around the park, music, games, bounce houses, pony rides and more. Coordinators of the local walk were Vicki Milliron and Shirley Lawyer.
The Chick-fil-A Cow and Sponge Bob were caught on camera as they performed a dance on stage prior to the start of the 7th annual Tampa Bay Buddy Walk at Largo Central Park on October 9. Clowns and other costumed characters were also on hand for the event, which promoted awareness of Down syndrome.
