Area communities and organizations to honor Veterans of the Armed Forces

Tampa Bay Veterans Alliance evening tribute
 
CLEARWATER – The Tampa Bay Veterans Alliance will host a celebration beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday at Crest Lake Park on Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.
 
Youth games and events will begin at 3 p.m. followed by the main event at 5 p.m. which will feature a color guard presentation, a hero’s walk, guest speakers and the sound of Taps at sunset. After the bugle call, the John Wayne movie, “They Were Expendable” will be aired.

Bay Pines VA to host Veterans Day ceremony Monday
 
ST. PETERSBURG – The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday at 11 a.m. in the courtyard located behind building 37. The event is open to all Veterans, their family and friends, and the general public.
 
Highlights of the ceremony will include musical performances by the Keswick Christian School Choir; a special parade of colors provided by local Veteran Service Organizations; and traditional military presentations to include the posting and retiring of the U.S. Flag, a firing salute, a taps performance and more.  Tampa Bay morning show radio host Mason Dixon will be the Master of Ceremonies.
 
Guest speakers will include retired U.S. Marine Col. Robert H. Chase, Jr., Deputy Director, Interagency Action Group, United States Central Command, and Suzanne M. Klinker, Director, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.
 
Signage will be posted to direct visitors to the venue.  Reserved and general parking will be available nearby.  A shuttle service will also be available to provide transportation for guest from parking lots to the ceremony area.

Annual Veterans boat parade on Saturday
 
MADEIRA BEACH – Decorate your boat in red, white and blue decorations for the annual boat parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The route starts just north of the Tom Stuart Causeway and heads south to the Treasure Island Causeway and back. Boaters should meet at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 650 150th Avenue in St. Petersburg on the east side of the causeway.
 
Lowry Park Zoo offers free admission to Veterans
 
TAMPA – In honor of Veterans Day, military personnel including active-duty and veterans are entitled to free admission to the Lowry Park Zoo all day Monday. A Department of Defense photo ID is required for entrance.
 
Military personnel and veterans can also bring along up to three direct dependents for free admission. Dependents may take advantage of the offer without their service member, though an adult must accompany minors.

Carrollwood to host a special Veterans’ concert
 
TAMPA – The Carrollwood Winds, a community concert band, will host a free concert at the Carrollwood Cultural Center on Saturday from 8-9:30 p.m.

Safety Harbor salutes veterans
 
SAFETY HARBOR – The City of Safety Harbor, the American Legion Post 238, and the VFW Post 10093 will salute the Armed Forces during an 11 a.m. ceremony on Monday at Veterans Park at the city marina.
 
Oldsmar to honor Veterans
 
OLDSMAR – The public is invited to the Veterans Day ceremony at the Oldsmar Veterans Memorial Park, 250 Shore Drive East. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Monday.  Veterans will be remembered with a special roll call.
 
An inspirational American concert to be presented
 
LARGO – The Suncoast Singers will present “Inspirational America,” a concert to open their 34th season on Saturday at 4 p.m. Honeywell Minnreg Building, 6340 126th Ave N. The concert will feature patriotic and upbeat American songs and music. The cost is $14-$26. Call (727) 581-5100.
 
Largo to honor Veterans during ceremony at Central Park
 
LARGO – The City of Largo will honor all veterans and active duty personnel at a 7 p.m. ceremony on Monday at the Military Court of Honor in Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive. Veteran's Day golf tournament set for Saturday
 
DUNEDIN – Proceeds from the 20th annual Veteran's Day Golf Tournament will benefit the Dunedin Children's Christmas program. Dunedin honors Veterans with ceremony and complimentary breakfast
 
DUNEDIN – Veterans and their family and friends will gather at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Stadium to honor lost Dunedin veterans. The ceremony will include remarks from special guests, patriotic anthems, a drill team performance and a formal pass in review.
 
The stadium is located at the Dunedin High School, 1651 Pinehurst Road. Veterans are invited for a free continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Call (727) 469-4100, ext. 2049 for more information.
 
Dali Museum to hold ceremony and offer free admission to Veterans
 
ST. PETERSBURG – To express gratitude to the military, the Dali Museum will honor veterans by hanging a wish of thanks on the Dali Wish Tree during an 11 a.m. ceremony Monday in the museum's Avant-gardens. The Exhibition Drill Team of Admiral Farragut Academy of St. Petersburg will open the ceremony. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
 
Admission to galleries is free for veterans, military, police, and firefighters with ID and their immediate family members may enjoy a special rate of $11.

Armed forces museum to host Senior Expo
 
LARGO — The Armed Forces History Museum, in conjunction with Senior Voice America and the “Health, Wealth and Wisdom” show on WHNZ Radio, 1250 AM, will present the Senior Expo on Nov. 14.
 
The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum, 2050 24th Way N. Admission is free for seniors 55 and older; $17.95 for younger adults and teenagers; $12.95 for ages 4-12; $15.25 for AAA members; and $14.95 for veterans.
 
Some 30 exhibitors specializing in senior products and services will offer demonstrations, information and product samples. Food and refreshments will be sold. Complimentary Senior Voice America newspapers will be distributed with a pull-out section outlining all exhibitors. In addition to interacting with exhibitors, guests also may tour the museum.
 
 The Senior Expo is part of the 2013 Maggi Tax Advisory and Veterans Solutions Special Event Series co-sponsored by Clearwater Toyota.

Salute Veterans while cruising on a WWII steamship
 
TAMPA – Celebrate the men and women who have served the country on a scenic cruise of Tampa Bay. Board an historic WWII steamship, the S.S. American Victory, on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 
Sponsored by The American Victory Mariners Museum Tampa, the S.S. American Victory Ship is one of only four operational WWII merchant vessels in the U.S.
