Baby Steps Workshop designed to help introduce newborns, pets
Published: March 27, 2014
LARGO — Blending pets and babies under one roof will have its delights and drawbacks. To help your pet cope with this big change, the SPCA Tampa Bay will introduce a new workshop on April 5.
In a similar way that parents help children understand that a new brother or sister will be joining the family, the Baby Steps Workshop is aimed at expectant mothers and their families to help acclimate your pet to the newborn.
The program instructor is licensed by Family Paws Parent Education, a national organization that offers specialized programs for new and expecting families with pets. The two-hour class begins at 4 p.m. To register, go to www.SPCATampaBay.org/BabySteps. The cost is $50 per family. Call (727) 586-3591 or send an email to Info@spcatampabay.org.
SPCA’s 10-acre facility is located at 9099 130th Avenue North in Largo and offers numerous programs including pet adoption, free pet behavior help, training for dogs and cats, and children’s summer camps. The facility is open Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.SPCATampaBay.org.
