Clearwater Police Stress Bicycle Safety to Youngsters

Published:   |   Updated: July 24, 2013 at 02:24 PM

Officers from the Clearwater Police Department and members of the AmeriCorps squad teamed up last week in a bicycle safety campaign.

Hispanic families from across Clearwater came to the Hispanic Outreach Center, 612 Franklin St., to learn more about how to be safe on bicycles. Children received free bicycle helmets, courtesy of Amscot, and also were given light kits for their bicycles as well.

Pamphlets on bicycle safety, written in Spanish, also were handed out. The Hispanic Outreach Center is located between police department headquarters and Clearwater Fire & Rescue headquarters in downtown.
