Eight score wins in library photography contest

Participants in a Clearwater Public Library contest this summer entered their photographic views of the joy of reading and the value of a library. The eight winners were two adults and six young people.

Titles included “Bookends,” picturing two boys enjoying an inner tube in the pool while reading a book, submitted by Nancy Young. “Overnight at the Center of the Earth” from Nick Stoner depicted a tall youngster reading while stretched out at full length.

Nicole Santillan submitted “The Library Behind the Glass,” a surreal shot of books distorted by the glass in front of them. “Books And More Books,” the work of Nicole Vargas, showed a colorful array of books lined up on a shelf.

Other titles were: “In The Garden Reading” from Megan Hays; “Slide Boys” by Jevelin Santos;   “My Favorite Magic Tree House” by Lliam Allred; and “The Book Dog” by Jessica Bennett.

All winners received a $50 gift card.

“We had a good participation this year,” said Heather Husted, virtual services librarian, “and we are looking forward to using some of the pictures in our promotions of the library services.”
