Residents in the city of Clearwater and Largo are invited to join their local police officials on Tuesday for the 30th anniversary of National Night Out, an event designed to promote awareness, support and participate in anti-crime efforts, and encourage contact with neighbors and local law enforcement.
Clearwater police will be available from 5 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the Super Target, located at 2747 Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. Demonstrations about safety will be conducted by the city police and fire and rescue enforcement teams including SWAT, traffic, K-9, and horse-mounted police patrol units. A bicycle safety course will stress effective and safe cycling. An All Children's Hospital transport team and document destruction company, ProShred, will also be available to shred personal and confidential papers. Largo police will be available from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Largo Mall Target, 10500 Ulmerton Road. Police and fire rescue squads will offer safety instructions, fingerprinting, and bike registration. A SWAT display and a mobile command vehicle will be on display and document destruction company, PROSHRED, will be available to shred personal and confidential papers.
