Ladies team to victory, but Umberg wins the crown

Published:

BELLEAIR — As the old saying goes… “Behind every successful man is a woman!"  In Paul Umberg's case, there were THREE women behind his recent golfing success.

Julia Hall, Emily Garvin and Cindy Hanlon played terrific golf, leading their team to victory in the annual Belleair Country Club Women's Golf Association “King for a Day” Tournament. The beneficiary of their stellar play was Paul Umberg, the newly crowned King.

“The girls were terrific, although, my own game took quite a few holes to get going” said Umberg.

Julia Hall shot a Net 62 on her own ball.  Cindy Hanlon fired a Net 64 and her net eagle 2 on hole #14 of the West Course was the deciding stroke in a scorecard match vs. the runner-up team.

Finishing 2nd was defending champion T. J. Williams with Dena Hale, Kathy Scherer, and Stephanie Melker.

The overall Low Gross team, led by King Scott DeLong included Ramona Williams, Jeanette Hodgkins, and Kerri Smoak.
