Oldest member of newcomer’s club celebrates 100th birthday

ISLAND ESTATES — Jeanne Frymire, a longtime member of the Welcome Newcomer's Club, was honored during the club’s monthly luncheon as she celebrated her 100th birthday at the Island Way Grill on Jan. 7. 
 
The purpose of the not-for-profit club is social with a focus of developing acquaintances and good fellowship.
 
The club meets for lunch each month at local restaurants and country clubs. Entertainment includes guest speakers and card playing. Throughout the month, the club will host a book club gathering, card games including canasta and bridge, a Saturday supper club and couples date night.
 
The next luncheon is Feb. 4. The club welcomes newcomers and longtime residents.  To join the club, call membership chair Dorie Hopkins at (727) 517-2423 or Marie Micheel at (727) 530-5194.
