Sea cadet honored by Clearwater Chapter Sons of the American Revolution

CLEARWATER — The annual dinner and awards ceremony of the Suncoast Squadron of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps of Clearwater was held at the East Bay Country Club on Jan. 14.
 
The Clearwater Chapter Sons of the American Revolution represented by 2nd Vice-President Bob Cundiff and Publicist John Sagert presented the SAR Good Citizenship Certificate and Medal to Petty Officer 2 Anthony Ruiz-Wilson.
 
Ruiz-Wilson was recognized for his dedication and service to the Suncoast Squadron. He was selected as Recruit of the Year in 2012. He previously served as the unit's Assistant Lead Petty Officer. He has performed many color guards, received the Color Guard ribbon with a bronze star, participated in community events including the flag laying on Veterans' graves, the 2013 Clearwater Winter Wonderland, Navy Ball of 2013, and baby food drive. He is a dependable volunteer and completes assignment willingly and thoroughly.  He also staffed recruit training last August.
