Still time to vote Clearwater as “Best Place to Watch a Sunset”

Published:   |   Updated: October 2, 2013 at 06:00 PM

CLEARWATER – As of midweek, the city of Clearwater had taken the lead in a USA Today poll for the “Best Place to Watch a Sunset.”

“There's still time to vote, so we can maintain the lead,” Mayor George Cretekos said.

After achieving a designation earlier this year as “Florida's Best Beach Town” by USA Today, the mayor would like nothing more than to follow that up with a title that would garner national recognition.

“This is where we need everyone's help. Please vote and encourage your friends, co-workers and guests (to vote). With your help, Clearwater can get the attention it deserves ... let the whole country know that Clearwater's sunsets truly are the best!”

Clearwater made the “10 best” readers' choice travel awards in the category of “Best Place to Watch a Sunset.” The poll asks readers to select from a list of 20 locations in North America and Mexico with the best “westerly” view.

To vote, go online at www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-place-to-watch-a-sunset. Voting continues until noon Tuesday.  Winners will be announced at noon Oct. 16.
