LARGO – Tammy Smith was named the 2013 Dream Award winner by Everest University in Largo for her determination to succeed and provide a better life for herself and her family.
A single mother of two, Smith found it challenging to attend class, but she always arrived prepared with her work completed. She overcame several illnesses requiring hospital care, while she was caring for her family full time.
“She never complained. Tammy endured each obstacle with a determination to succeed and she always wore a smile,” said Sheila Cappalo, dental assisting program director at Everest.
Smith is employed with Boulevard Dental as a whitening specialist dental technician.
The Dream Award, given by Everest and its parent company, Corinthian Colleges Inc., honors exceptional graduates who have completed their post-secondary education while overcoming extraordinary challenges.
Everest University-Largo is located at 1199 East Bay Drive. The campus offers programs in accounting, applied management, business, business office administration, business sales and customer service, computer information systems, criminal justice, dental assistant, massage therapy, medical administrative assistant, medical assistant, medical insurance billing and coding, paralegal and pharmacy technician.
