Organist to perform at Peace Memorial Presbyterian
 
 
 
CLEARWATER — Organist Tristan Rhodes will perform “Fire and Pipes,” a concert of compositions by Bach, Brahms, Handel and Haydn, plus 20th Century pieces from the French, English, Norwegian and American repertoire.
 
 
The 3 p.m. event Jan. 12 is at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, 110 S. Fort Harrison Ave. at Pierce Street. A $5 minimum donation is requested.
 
 
Rhodes will play the church's four-manual Casavant pipe organ in a concert co-sponsored by the Clearwater Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
 
 
Rhodes attended Peabody Conservatory of Music and Westminster Choir College and received an artist diploma in conducting from the Internationale Akademie des Mozarteums, Salzburg, Austria under Herbert van Karajan. He has carved out a career as an instrumental and choral conductor, chamber musician, coach, composer, and solo pianist and organist. He recently relocated to the Tampa Bay area.

Music, sermon on tap at Chapel-By-The-Sea
 
 
 
CLEARWATER BEACH — “The Overworked Word” is the title of the Rev. Herb Freitag's sermon on Sunday at Chapel-By-The-Sea Community Church, 54 Bay Esplanade. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m.
 
 
 
A group consisting of Brette Tucker, Danielle Denninger, Kayley Kinpoints, Claudia Dahlgren, Jared Acuff, Paul Sanders and Adrian Ortega will sing the anthems.

Christian Women's Club to hold luncheon
 
 
CLEARWATER — The Clearwater Christian Women's Club will host its monthly luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cove Cay Country Club, U.S. 19 and Haines Bayshore Boulevard.
 
 
Featured will be music, a scarf styling demonstration and Nada Decker's talk titled, “Have You Ever Felt Invisible?” Cost is $17.

Largo Christian Fellowship Church Sunday Worship 
 
 
LARGO – The Christian Fellowship Church, located at 900 Starkey Road in Largo, is taking a new direction in worship with a contemporary service that begins each Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Voice of Jazz concert to benefit Metropolitan Ministries
 
 
ST. PETERSBURG – The Daughters of Penelope of St. Petersburg invites the public to a concert featuring the “Voices of Jazz” on Jan. 18 at the Doncedy Hall of St. Stefanos Church, 3600 76th Street N.
 
 
The 7 p.m. event will include ballroom dancing demonstrations, hors d'oeuvres and Greek desserts.
 
 
The cost is $25 per person with proceeds going to the Metropolitan Ministries.
