CLEARWATER BEACH – More than $11,000 was donated by the efforts and pledges for 200 walkers that participated in the 5th Annual BeachWalk/Walk, sponsored by Chapel-By-The-Sea and the Palm Pavilion.

“Each year the BeachWalk/Walk gets better and we are able to provide more funds to the RCS Food Bank,” said co-chairs and Chapel members Rick Owens and Fred Bickel. Proceeds go to Religious Community Services (RCS) Food Bank.

A crowd of avid walkers gathered at the Palm Pavilion at 7:30 a.m., Jan. 25. Reverend Herb Freitag and the Hooters Owl started the 2 mile walk at 8:30 with the sound of an air horn.

The walkers went south on the beach for a mile and returned to Chapel-By-The-Sea where they were greeted with a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, sausage, and fruit donated by the Clear Sky Café and music by The Florida Band. A silent auction of donated items collected more than $3,000.
