Clearwater -

The Clearwater Police Department will take on the Largo Police Department later this month in a benefit softball game at Bright House Field.

Proceeds from the game, set for 3:30 p.m. on April 26, will benefit Clearwater Police Maj. Mark Teunis.

Teunis, a veteran of more than three decades with Clearwater Police, was diagnosed last year with brain cancer. He already has undergone brain surgery and faces future medical treatments. The proceeds from the game will help offset mounting medical bills.

Tickets for the game are $17.50 and include all you can eat and drink from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, peanuts, popcorn, chips, soft drinks, bottled water and ice cream sandwiches.

The admission price also includes a minor league baseball game at 6:30 p.m. between the Clearwater Threshers and the Dunedin Blue Jays.

There will also be games for the kids and a silent auction.

Tickets will be available at the gate or can be purchased ahead of time through the department.

For more information on the game or how to get tickets, call 562-4304.
