CLEARWATER — The Rotary Club of Clearwater hosted legendary television broadcaster Dick Crippen during its Aug. 13 meeting.
Crippen provided the club keen insight into the current state of the Tampa Bay Rays, as well as the future of the franchise within the Tampa Bay area. His engaging and energy-filled discussion provided Rotary members with additional information regarding the Tampa Bay Rays’ charitable works, specifically with regard to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, as well as an insider’s look into the world of professional baseball
Crippen, a popular former weatherman, and sports anchor and director in the Tampa Bay television market since 1965, now works as a senior advisor for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team in community development. In addition to his duties with the Rays, he also hosts a weekly sports show called “Bay Sports with Dick Crippen” on Bright House Sports Network (Bright House Networks, channel 47) and is a popular speaker on sports, motivation, and broadcasting. He also hosts multiple local events, including athletic ceremonies at the University of South Florida.
