City honors 125th anniversary of Sons of the American Revolution

CLEARWATER — The local chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution were recognized last month by the city council in observance of its 125th anniversary.

Mayor George Cretekos read a proclamation honoring the society.

The national organization was founded on April 30, 1889, by descendants of the patriots involved in the American Revolution, one hundred years after the presidential inauguration of George Washington

The local chapter serves the communities of northern Pinellas and western Pasco counties. They promote the patriotic, educational and historic interests resulting from the American Revolution.

Men and boys who are interested in documenting their relationship to their American Revolutionary War ancestors and in joining an active group with similar interest are encouraged to call Parks Honeywell at (727) 372-4641.
