Crisis Center of Tampa Bay gives advocate award to city detective

— The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay presented The Charlie Hounchell Community Advocate Award to James McBride, a detective with the Clearwater Police Department.

McBride, who also has lead the Clearwater/Tampa Bay Area Task Force on Human Trafficking since 2006, received the award for his leadership in fight against human trafficking.

During his 18 years with the city police department, McBride has helped survivors of human trafficking and relief agencies. In the past 8 years, he has investigated and successfully charged more than 50 traffickers.

The award is named in honor of the late Charlie Hounchell, who served on the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay’s Board of Directors. For information regarding The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, visit www.crisiscenter.com.
