— The Brothers of the Clearwater Masonic Lodge N. 127 donated and awarded 12 bicycles to top student readers at Skycrest Elementary School in their second annual “Bikes-for-Books” reading program.

Students earned points for the books they read throughout the school year and the top boy and girl readers from each grade, kindergarten through 5th, were recognized and awarded a new bicycle by the local Masons last month.

Skycrest Elementary Principal Angelean Bing and Masonic Lodge member Wm. John Brown led the awards ceremony. Officer Ray Croze of Clearwater Police Department gave a presentation on bicycle safety and Nancy Miller, Dianna Glavnik, and Britney Lennox from the Americorps Clearwater fitted each winner with a new bike helmet.

Other participants during the award ceremony included Masons Sam Lampson, Dario Chaviano, Robert Boyington, David Griffin, John Brown Jr., Michael Wells, George Marangos, Leo Saito III and Mark Birenbaum, and school officials Jennifer Flory and Lisa Brown.
