Over 80 horseshoe pitchers from throughout the state gatherd in Clearwater on Dec. 7 to participate in the annual Jerry and Rita Roza Open Tournament at the Clearwater Horseshoe Club.  Among the participants was Gwen Mehrwerth of Flagler County, at right above, who finished in first place in Class K (30-foot players).  She is pictured with tournament director Jim Hayden as he presents her with a check for her accomplishment.  The Roza family has sponsored the event and provided prize money for the past 12 years.  Twenty family members from four different states (Texas, Illinois, Tennessee and Florida) travelled to Clearwater this year to attend the event, which was named in honor of the late Jerry and Rita Roza.
