Minister’s sermon re-imagines Jesus’ story
 
CLEARWATER BEACH — The Rev. Herbert Freitag’s sermon for Sunday at Chapel-By-The-Sea Community Church is “Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa.” The minister will pose the question, “Would Christ have been Christ if he’d been born in a palace and took himself off the cross like a superhero?”

Concert series offers ‘Moonlight and Romance’
 
CLEARWATER — Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church’s concert series will feature “Moonlight and Romance” at 3 p.m. Feb. 9 at the church, 110 S. Fort Harrison Ave.
 
Pianist Teresa Walters will play selections by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Gershwin and other composers, including “Moonlight Sonata” and “Rhapsody in Blue.”
 
Walters, dubbed the “International First Lady of Piano,” received her doctorate from the Peabody Conservatory. As a concert artist, she has toured throughout the United States and Europe, playing at Carnegie Hall, the Esterhazy Palace in Austria and the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory. Suggested minimum donation is $5. A reception will be offered in fellowship hall after the concert.

Women of St. Brendan to host fashion show, lunch
 
CLEARWATER — The St. Brendan Council of Catholic Women offers its annual fashion show and luncheon from 11:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 13 at Clearwater Country Club, 525 North Betty Lane.
 
Fashions will be by Patchington of Belleair Bluffs. The event includes basket prize drawings, a 50/50 drawing, silent auction and the “Heart Tree.” The fundraiser benefits local charities.

Christian women’s club to hold monthly luncheon
 
CLEARWATER — Clearwater Christian Women’s Club will host its monthly luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Cove Cay Country Club, U.S. 19 and Haines Bayshore Boulevard.
 
Following a concert by Dick Morris, Kathy Baarman will talk about how she found true freedom in America.
 
The club isn’t affiliated with any church or denomination, and there are no dues. All men and women are welcome.

Valentine dinner & dance at Hope Presbyterian

Help for families of alcoholics
 
Al-Anon Family Groups help families and friends of problem drinkers recover from the impacts of a loved one’s drinking. Members help each other by practicing the 12 steps of alcoholics anonymous, welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.
