Filmmaking of Dolphin Tale 2 “a wrap”

ISLAND ESTATES — Clearwater Marine Aquarium CEO David Yates, also known as Winter's agent, said that the last major scenes with actors for “Dolphin Tale 2” were filmed Tuesday and a crew shot aerials of the aquarium and downtown from a helicopter most of Wednesday.

“That's a wrap,” he said, adding that post-production work to edit video and add visual and sound effects now will begin.

A global marketing campaign promoting the movie and the area is expected to begin in April or May, he said.

One of the scenes captured last week shows Harry Connick Jr., who runs the onscreen aquarium as Dr. Clay Haskett, and Cozi Zuehlsdorff, who plays his daughter, Hazel, during a simulated dolphin rescue.

The film, a sequel to 2011's “Dolphin Tale,” brought worldwide attention to the story of Winter, who was found entangled in a crab trap line as a baby in 2005, lost her tail flukes and later was fitted with a prosthesis she uses for physical therapy.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which has been closed on most weekdays since filming began last October, will resume its normal operations this weekend.
