CLEARWATER – The Pinellas County Economic Development’s Business Development Center (BDC) offers business education classes to help local businesses expand and create new jobs.
Regularly scheduled classes range from “How to Start a Business” and “Doing Business with Pinellas County” to “Intellectual Property Law: Patents and Trademarks.”

All classes unless otherwise identified are held at the Pinellas County Economic Development office, located at 13805 58th Street North, Suite 1-200 in Clearwater. Office hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The BDC also offers courses for entrepreneurs in Spanish.

Business Plans for New and Existing Businesses: Business plans need to be specific to your purpose. Whether you're seeking a loan or trying to increase profits, this class on Jan. 23 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. will explain the best format and sources to conduct research to guide your plan. The cost is $20 per person.
DBE/SBE/WBE Certification for Existing Businesses: Explore the benefits and process of certification as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Small Business Enterprise (SBE), or Woman Business Enterprise (WBE). On Jan. 28, 12 - 2 p.m., learn how to locate and identify government purchasing opportunities and improve your position in the bid evaluation process. The cost is $20 per person.
Marketing Your Business for New & Existing Businesses: Customers are key to every successful business. An effective, strategic marketing is the way to attract customers and increase revenue. On Jan. 30, 12 - 2 p.m., discover strategies for winning new clients and keeping existing customers coming back. The cost is $20 per person.
